SoarTech proposes Multimodal, Adaptable, and Dynamic Human Autonomy Team Relationships (MAD-HATR) as a capability that implements adaptable multimodal transparency throughout the HAT lifecycle. Delivery of this capability which applies models of transparency to autonomy and matched throughout the HAT lifecycle will result in improved common ground, calibrated trust, maximized communication efficiency, and optimal autonomy use and reliance. In this Phase II we will integrate models of transparency and match them across the gamut of a HAT lifecycle. Our explanatory design techniques will be used to develop algorithms that generate advanced transparency content including current state and rationale of autonomy, which operators will be able to adapt to meet their perceived needs. This will result in prototype autonomy and multimodal interfaces enabling fast acquisition of transparency content on demand without increased visual complexity. SoarTech will assess the benefits of our transparency lifecycle approach with these prototypes within simulation.
