ARTEMIS Inc. proposes to adapt our SBIR-developed radar technology to support a series of flight tests for the Air Force Air Combat Command (ACC) starting with Yuma proving grounds during the Summer of 2021. The overarching need is to demonstrate Combat ID capability to ACC with existing weapon systems within the next few years. As part of a Phase II SBIR development, ARTEMIS has conducted test flights and demonstrated high-fidelity, geo-registered Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imaging. The SBIR work provides a TRL 6 baseline to quickly mature this capability into a surrogate Stormbreaker (Small-Diameter Bomb (SDB) II) payload. It is the intent to perform flight testing on the ARTEMIS testbed aircraft (a Cessna O-2A Skymaster) in a series of tests at Yuma, AZ and Eglin AFB, FL. Following successful demonstration flights at Eglin AFB, early operational capability will be demonstrated at Avon Park Air Force Range, FL (TRL 7/8). The radar hardware is available for integration into an Unmanned Air System (UAS) platform in the future.
