It is InnoflightÂ’s goal to provide breakthrough capability of a highly agile software defined radio (SDR) based on low SWaP, high throughput modem capability with cybersecure networking using HAIPE Suite-B for munition platforms. Under this effort we propose to develop a platform combining InnoflightÂ’s Multi-Mode Modem SDR platform with our software-based Top Secret and Below (TSAB) traffic encryption system of High-Assurance Software Cryptography (HASC). While generic SDR platforms are abundant in the market, they fall into the bucket of analog to digital digitizers. While such solutions are great for academic and developmental purposes, they rarely meet the needs of advanced DoD (Department of Defense) waveforms and applications in the operational realm. Innoflight designs ultra low SWaP (Size Weight and Power) spacecraft radios supporting a wide variety of DoD and Government SATCOM waveforms. The Multi-Mode Modem with HASC will provide an innovative cryptographic radio solution enabling blue forces to utilize it as a weapon in the Joint All Domain Command and Control (JADC2) environment. This highly innovative solution would provide the platform to support a range of munition seeker applications in the tactical networking space. For example, cybersecure mesh networking protocols for swarming capability.

Future military operations will be multi-domain and will be conducted with unprecedented speed. Establishing and maintaining dominance in such a scenario requires the ability to distribute information from, to, and through all domains and make decisions at a speed our adversaries cannot match. Innoflight proposes the development of a Multi-Mode Modem that can switch between different satellite communication providers to provide resiliency and persistent high data rate communications. This effort leverages the software defined radio (SDR) and Disruption Tolerant Networking (DTN) technologies developed under the contractor's Phase I effort. One application of interest is for Beyond-the-Line-Of-Sight (BLOS) communications with Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAV). Specifically, this Multi-Mode Modem will be able to support the MQ-9 Reaper class UAVs and all the design considerations that coincide.
