In this SBIR Phase I program, Freedom Photonics will investigate the feasibility of developing a high-speed, low-cost, and resilient optical datalink for next-generation space-level read-out integrated circuits (ROIC), supporting the U.S. Air Force mission of global persistent intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) from a satellite constellation. Such an optical datalink will enable the warfighter with near real-time information collection, processing, dissemination, and decision-making capabilities for tactical and strategic threats.
