Vehicular accidents, battlefield engagements and mass disasters natural and human-made are critical events where speed and ease of use in stabilizing the injured for subsequent evacuation is a critical need.Failure to halt bleeding in the critically injured can result in death before their evacuation to hospitals or other permanent treatment facilities or can result in more extended convalescence periods increasingmedical costs for families, hospitals, and insurers. Ecient hemostasis is beneficial for both damage control and tissue repair after injury, e.g., trauma or surgery, which can significantly decrease the mortality rate. Our multi-functional bandage is a natural nanocomposite created from FDA approved polymers (chitosan, PCL, PLA) containing drug-doped HNTs and mHNTs. The doped HNTs can deliver a broad suite ofbioactive molecules, including antibiotics, contrast agents, coagulants, disinfectants, cancer drugs, and growth factors. It is designed to be an active, hemostatic agent designed to help control bleeding from openwounds and in body cavities (mouth, ears, nose, throat, vagina, and anus). The material contains no chemical additives, is not immunogenic, and is hypoallergenic. When it comes in contact with blood, anti-clotting factors are released immediately followed by time-release delivery of anti-bacterial and wound healing promoting agent
