The Aceso Plasma Generator (APG) is a patented wound care device that accelerates healing while disinfecting and decontaminating the wound site. This technology achieves every aspect of the Air Forces strategic priority for Biotechnology to include disease prevention and mitigation, rapid emergency medical response and trauma management, environmental remediation, and advanced materials. The device creates low temperature, high concentration Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) from ambient air which speed up the body’s own natural processes with regard to disinfection and healing. Oxygen has long been researched and used for treatment of hard to treat wounds and is noted for its disinfection and healing properties which is why patients are often treated in hyperbaric chambers. Military applications of this technology will allow more wounds to be treated locally, returning soldiers to the fight faster. The device would potentially decrease hospital stays, antibiotic use, dressing changes, and reduce healthcare costs. The objective of this project will be to define Air Force end user requirements to include form, fit, and function as well as research the studies required to achieve FDA approval to then commercialize the medical device. Completing the above tasks will make Aceso Plasma a strong candidate for a SBIR Phase

The Aceso Plasma Generator (APG) is a patented wound care device that accelerates healing while disinfecting and decontaminating the wound site. This technology achieves every aspect of the Air Forces current strategic priority for Biotechnology to include disease prevention and mitigation, rapid emergency medical response and trauma management, environmental remediation, and advanced materials. The device creates low temperature, high concentration Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) from ambient air. These low temperature ROS speed up the body’s own natural processes with regard to disinfection and healing. Oxygen has long been researched and used for treatment of hard to treat wounds and is noted for its disinfection and healing properties which is why patients are often treated in hyperbaric chambers. These Reactive Oxygen Species are also adept at decontaminating chemicals such as those used in weapons. We will test Aceso Plasma on a wide range of biological and chemical hazards to include COVID-19 and VX gas, multiple wound patterns and burn wounds to test and quantify disinfection and accelerated healing rates. Based on previous small-scale studies, we hypothesize that the use of Aceso Plasma on wounds will help the body heal in approximately half the time compared to normal healing rates
