3D Cloud (“3DCâ€?) was founded by service-disabled USAF Special Warfare Airmen to develop innovative solutions that improve strategic and tactical objectives in order to solve mission critical challenges for warfighters. Currently there is no DoD platform through which warfighters can view designs, request builds, and securely download the files for 3D printing critical parts and tools in the field. The current method of distributing these items to the front lines is reliant on unfettered air mobility access and upstream manufacturing. The time from request to delivery often falls outside the window of usability or impacts operational mission execution. Additionally, there are tremendous costs associated with moving goods, and the associated risk of overseas supply chain logistics, limiting the warfighter’s ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment. Additive manufacturing will transform the DoD supply chain by enabling downstream production on demand and with rapid fulfillment. 3DC’s Carbon Cloud solution is a cloud-based platform that allows the DoD to capitalize on this disruptive technology by allowing warfighters to request items from a curated list and field it rapidly via local 3D printing facilities. This solution is beneficial for the warfighter and saves DoD money by eliminating costly supply chain logistics.

3D Cloud (“3DC”) was founded to develop innovative dual-application solutions that improve strategic and tactical objectives to solve mission critical challenges for warfighters and commercial customers. There is no DoD platform through which warfighters can view designs, request builds, and securely download files for 3D printing items in the field. The current method of distributing items to the front lines is reliant on unfettered air mobility access and upstream manufacturing. 3DC’s Carbon Cloud solution allows DoD to capitalize on this disruptive technology by allowing warfighters to request items from a curated list and produced via local 3D printing facilities. This solution benefits the warfighter and saves DoD money by reducing costly supply chain logistics. The Carbon Cloud platform is a dual-use application that can be adopted for the warfighter, or as a service model for commercial customers allowing for a brand consistent customer experience while providing the commercial partner with the ability to iteratively introduce additive manufacturing into their production workflow. 3DC’s Phase I efforts established the feasibility and dual-use commercial potential of a cloud based, print on-demand software solution.
