The purpose of the planned research is to create a highly reliable 50shp engine for use in future Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).The FTT50 recuperated engine is being designed to meet 2000 hour life goals, while maintaining efficiency, BSFC of less than .6lb/hr/hp.FTT is currently developing the engine technology including turbomachinery, air bearings, lightweight recuperator, and high power density alternator, on a smaller scale 5Kw turbo-generator.The cycle conditions and key components will be modified to meet the goals of future class 3 UAVs the program.
