The proposed project will advance the Adaptive Defense using Linguistic Inference of Behaviors (AD-LIB) technology to Technology Readiness Level 8 (TRL 8). AD-LIB uses linguistic techniques to parse, interpret, and mitigate malicious system behaviors. Just as linguistic grammars are capable of parsing and generating novel sentences, AD-LIB is capable of detecting and mitigating novel attacks. System behaviors are observed using bus, disk, network, and memory mediation. AD-LIB can run on a secure coprocessor so it does not place a computational load on the host system and is difficult for host-based malware to attack.
