Key challenges addressed by this proposal in the mitigation of small UAS threats are detection, identification, and management/defeat and system implementation: 1) Detection: Adaption of a commercial off the shelf (COTS) detect and avoid radar sensor designed for UAS collision avoidance to the drone detection problem. 2) Threat Identification: Implementation of sUAS threat identification using a combination of sUAS identification signature recognition, flight path prediction, and threat geo-boundary penetration analysis. 3) Management/Defeat: Use a UAS to track and capture/defeat the threat sUAS using a net. 4) System Implementation: Demonstrate sUAS threat management system using using an autonomous detection, identification, and launch from a vehicle and a fixed location.
