Kalos Technologies Inc. (Kalos) and Temple University submit together this STTR Phase I proposal entitled Securing the Internet of Things in Tactical Environments to the Air Force in response to solicitation topic AF16-AT10: Securing the Internet of Things. It is the Kalos and Temples effort in the development of hardware-based security, embedded system security, secure communication, and secure Internet of Things technologies to be able to provide secure and efficient computing and communication capability for the Internet of Things for the Department of Defense (DoD), homeland defense, and law enforcement. The objectives of this project are to: (1) conduct feasibility study of technologies and policies and determine if the technology and policy exists to secure Internet of Things in tactical and challenging environments; (2) design and implement novel hardware technologies to secure embedded systems and Internet of Things; (3) develop techniques for secure end-to-end communications between things (devices) and Internet; and (4) develop a prototype system and demonstrate the above security and communication functions. Open source software will be used to develop a prototype of the secure end-to-end communication.
