Innovative Engineering Solutions (IES) will integrate igniter technology, developed under prior SBIR and private funding, into hydrogen/oxygen rocket engines to provide new capabilities and reduce launch cost on Air Force and NASA space flight missions. Specifically, IES will complete development and perform qualification of an electronic spark igniter for use by United Launch Alliance (ULA) on a new, gaseous hydrogen/oxygen thruster, support development of a lower-cost, replacement igniter for use by Aerojet Rocketdyne (AR) on the RL10 upper stage rocket engine (CentaurAtlas upper stage rocket), and will develop and build a working prototype igniter electronics module for use on the ULA Integrated Fluids System (IVF) reciprocating engine, being developed by ULA to decrease mission costs and provide new maneuvering and deorbit capabilities. Additionally IES will support the integration of this new igniter technology into other engines utilized by the Air Force and NASA.
