Mustang Technology Group, LP is proposing a Phase I SBIR study that will expand the capability of air delivered weapons by providing a low cost, small form factor, multi-function radar seeker which has a flexible architecture which supports multiple radar modes and high speed data link communications. The seeker will be capable of prosecuting stationary and moving targets by executing radar modes such as Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), Doppler Beam Sharpening (DBS) and Ground Moving Target Indication (GMTI). The key innovation for this study is the addition of a high speed data link communications capability to the seeker which will allow the weapon solution to receive In-Flight Target Updates (IFTUs) and provide Battle Damage Assessments (BDAs).

Benefit:
Mustang views this SBIR as an opportunity to expand the capabilities of our existing line of affordable, high-performance, RF seekers. The impressive size, weight and power characteristics of the sensor concept make it viable for air-delivered weapon and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) applications. The dual use, radar communication architecture of the multi functional RF system supports new applications such as Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaisance (ISR) and cooperative networks. Commercial applications of the flexible radar seeker include: imagery aided navigation and aircraft collision avoidance systems.
