The U. S. Air Force (USAF) has requested that a qualified small business generate a design for a lightweight radar for installation on a Mini-Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (MUAV) under SBIR program AF06-215. Radar Flashlight, LLC. (RFLLC), a Georgia based corporation, working with a sub-contractor, Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI), proposes to provide the requested radar system over two phases of research. At the end of Phase I RFLLC will provide the USAF: 1) A design for a radar sensor system to meet the USAF performance goals enumerated in AF06-215; and 2) will demonstrate a first generation radar flown on a Bergen helicopter. The first generation radar equipped Bergen helicopter will be flown during the Phase I program to develop data on platform stability, electromagnetic compatibility issues and vibrational resonances that can affect the radar during flight. All data developed during flight testing will considered during the preparation of the design of the final radar that will be built during Phase II. During the proposed Phase II effort, RFLLC will build the MUAV radar, designed during Phase I. The radar built during the Phase II effort will meet the USAF performance goals.
