The PI proposes that he conduct research and develop a conceptual design meeting the requirements of the solicitation. The research activities will be directed into developing an Adaptable Cognizant Vehicle Power Pack (ACVPP) that is a self-aware, modular pack and control system that provides a modular and readily configurable packing and interfacing system. It will utilize SAE standard CAN communication interfaces between modules, the vehicles master controller and the thermal management equipment. It will have cognizant capability whereby it observes the pack actions, tracking performance trends and provides a real-time closed loop control of the packs output via self-regulated clamps, shunts and interface to the master vehicle control. This interface will communicate operational modifiers for charge and discharge to maintain proper pack health thereby extending its performance and life span.
