The Phoenix Group Inc. proposes the development and prototype construction of a helmet moutned, hands-free, communications system suitable for field use. The system would contain a state-of-the-art heads-up display, speech recognition system, helmet mounted video camera and a wireless LAN using spread spectrum techniques for soldier to base communications. The primary thrust is the completion of the devleopment ofa lightweight, helmet mounted, high resolution head-up display suitable for graphics and tactical situation displays and the evaluation by Phoenix Group Inc. Research partner of the suitability of such a device from the human factors standpoint.
