A high-performance enterprise wide expert system tool that utilizes parallel computers is proposed. The tool combines four pieces of existing technology to solve the problems associated with developing parallel expert system tools. The problems associated with large scale expert systems include: integration of large "legacy" databases, lack of expert system tools for parallel computers, and the difficulties associated with programming parallel computers. The four components of the tools include: an expert system tool written in Prolog, a parallel Prolog compiler, a database interface for the Prolog language, and a parallel computer. The combination of these four technologies provides a method to create intelligent tools that can process vast amounts of data.
