A feasibility evaluation of the unclassified innovative concepts being proposed for the Integrated High Performance Turbine Engine Technology (IHPTET) Phase III initiative will be carried out. This Phase I SBIR evaluation effort will be conducted in the following four-step process: (1) Identification of relevant technologies available for Phase III IHPTET, (2) screening of identified technologies, (3) technical evaluation of selected technologies, and (4) development of recommendations for a proposed follow-on Phase II SBIR Demonstration Program effort. Evaluations will be based upon an analytical determination of the technology payoffs compared to a baseline engine configuration. Technology concepts will be evaluated on both an individual and combined basis in order to maximize potential benefits. Engine characteristics such as reliability, affordability, and inherent risks will also be included in the overall evaluation. Commercial and other military application potentials for each concept will be included as part of this process. The Phase I effort is expected to be completed in six (6) months.
