The Phase I project will, using the control system requirements and architecture definition of on-going USAF programs, define the validation process and methodology for the advanced control technologies of a distributed control system. The goal of the project is to develop a process and methodology that will support the evaluation and research on the application of advanced control technologies/techniques to gas turbine control systems. This methodology shall be developed so as to be applicable across the various gas turbine control system suppliers to the USAF and be further extendable to all gas turbine control systems being used by the DOD and planned for development under the IHPTET initiative. This program will review the methodologies and processes currently being used by the USAF at WPAFB for gas turbine control system validation and evaluation. The Phase I final report will identify several validation methodology options an their cost both in dollars and manpower.
