A requirement exists for a low cost, physically compact, acoustic transponder which can be used to assist the follow-on mine neutralization process. The transponder (or marker) will be located in a known location relative to the target by the UUV during the initial identification process. P1 involves the proof of concept design and architecture for the Mine Location Marker that provides the desired capability to mark and report, when queried, its location. The architecture and design should identify the transmission protocols and consideration of guaranteed access of service.
