In November 2005, Sensors Unlimited was acquired in a cash transaction by Goodrich and now is a member of the Optical and Space Systems Division of Goodrich Corporation operating as a subsidiary of Goodrich Corporation. Goodrich ISR Systems engages in the design, manufacture, and supply of indium gallium arsenide (InGaAs) photodiodes, arrays, and cameras for near-infrared and shortwave infrared (SWIR) imaging applications in the United States and internationally. The companys products are used for imaging and surveillance in military, defense, medical, commercial, security and covert surveillance, machine vision, photovoltaic, spectroscopy, semiconductor inspection, instrumentation, thermography, and telecommunications applications, as well as in linescan inspection, process control, laser beam profiling, microscopy, art inspection, and astronomy applications. Its products are also used in various applications, such as infrared reflectography, light analysis, imaging through haze, automated inspection, biomedical, marine intelligence, and aircraft landing systems, as well as in industrial, agricultural, and scientific markets. Formerly known as Sensors Unlimited, Inc, the original company was founded in 1991 by a team previously and effectively aactive in the SBIR space. Having been very active in the SBIR program, in October 2000, Sensors Unlimited was acquired by Finisar Corporation. Subsequently, as the result of a management buyback in late 2002, they once again became a privately held company renewing their SBIR involvement until the subsequent acqusition by Goodrich.
