Xidex's technical expertise include sensing and control technologies, scanning probe tools, growth of aligned carbon nanotubes for use as functional nanostructures, design and fabrication of specialized probes and tips, magnetic resonance force microscopy for biological imaging, microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), and supporting skills in electronics, optics, signal processing, condensed matter physics, chemistry, and modal analysis. Carbon Nanotubes - Xidex's work on carbon nanotubes as functional elements of micromechanical and microelectronic devices has successfully demonstrated a method to grow aligned carbon nanotubes at selected locations on silicon surfaces. The firm is currently conducting R&D on carbon nanotubes as AFM tips, field emitters and molecular electronic devices.
