Public Profile

SBIR involved at thetime the firmw as formed and still active some 35 years later, MetroLaser is organized around conduct of quality R&D and commercialization of optical diagnostics systems to measure flow velocity, temperature, chemical composition, surface temperature inside gas turbine engines, and non destructive inspection of composites and other components. With a considerablerange of patents in advanced lasers and optical diagnostics. Over many years of operation, MetroLaser has formed teaming agreements with over 20 universities and with many industrial partners. The firm has spun off other companies to include: Optical Measurement Systems (OMS), Inc, and Spectabit Optics, LLC both with a focus on commercialization of products that were developed by MetroLaser: OMS is pursuing the commercialization of MetroLaser’s laser vibrometer (now found in a. large number of countries); Spectabit is addressing schlieren systems for flow diagnostics. MetroLaser is an active participant in the SBIR and STTR programs and has converted several of these programs into successful commercial activities. SBIR research programs are always highly leveraged by ongoing, non-SBIR programs that provide knowledge and equipment that would not otherwise be affordable by the SBIR program alone. The firm has also been granted an impressive inventory of patents in advanced lasers and optical diagnostics.
