In January 2015, PathoGenetix, Inc. was acquired by Toxic Reports, LLC. Doing business as of PathoGenetix, Inc., the firm had engaged in developing an automated system for rapid bacterial identification and strain typing from complex samples using genome sequence scanning (GSS) technology. The company offered RESOLUTION, a microbial genotyping system that provides molecular serotype and strain type information directly from a complex sample. Its microbial genotyping system includes a bench top instrument, targeted assays, and onboard bioinformatics and reporting solutions. The companyâs bench top instrument integrates various components, including an automated genome processor for DNA sample preparation, a genome scanner for stretching and scanning of single molecule DNA fragments, and a genome classifier for automated data analysis; assay kits that package reagents and components necessary to process from one to eight samples at one time; and custom software that creates and analyzes GSS barcodes that are based on the underlying genome sequence of the organism, and compares them to a database of potential matching templates to identify the organism. Its microbial genotyping systems are used for food safety and industrial microbiology, genomics and micro biome research, and clinical diagnostics applications. PathoGenetix, Inc. was formerly known as U.S. Genomics, Inc. and changed its name to PathoGenetix, Inc. in November 2010. The company had been founded in 1997 and had successfully riased almost $75M in external capital but some time before its acqusition by Toxic LLC had filed for liquidation under Chapter 7 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Massachusetts
