Organized around development / commercialization of a concept for a bipolar nickel-metal hydride (BP Ni-MH) rechargeable battery, in 2004 Electro Energy merged with MCG Diversified Inc. and also went public that year (EEEI) With locations inConnecticut and Colorado, the new entitiy operated under the name Mobile Energy. The original firm had developed unique materials, a design, and production process that blended together produce a product that is radically simpler than existing technology, resulting in a lower cost unit, which out performs present commercial nickel-metal hydride batteries with respect to power and energy. By the time of recession, in March 2009, Electro Energy Inc had filed a voluntary petition for liquidation under Chapter 7 in the US Bankruptcy Court.
