NanoHorizons was founded by a team of scientists from Pennsylvania State University as part of the Centre County Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) incubator program. The company's mission was to develop and commercialize nanomaterial-enabled products based upon an extensive intellectual property portfolio. The early work of the company included the development of high performance flexible electronics, and nanomaterial-based sensors and analytical chemistry devices for drug discovery. Currently, NanoHorizons invents, designs, and manufactures advanced nanoscale silver additives that add permanent, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly antimicrobial and performance-enhancing characteristics to consumer, commercial, and industrial products. The company markets its patent-protected and Oeko-Tex® approved antimicrobial solution under the SmartSilver® brand that has worldwide recognition.NanoHorizons combines science and technology to invent, design, and manufacture advanced nanoparticles that provide permanent, safe, effective, and economical antimicrobial protection in a variety of products.
