Instapath Inc. is a medical device firm organized around digital imaging tools for rapid on-site pathology evaluation to deterine and enable repeat biopsy procedures if required. Currently resident in JLab Houston facilites, the firm has designed a microscopy system that provides an image of cancer biopsies. Within seconds, the system provides imaging biopsy samples upon removal at sub cellular resolution - but also effectively preserves the tissue for future analysis - enabling essential biopsy quality evaluation to ensure an accurate final diagnosis. It is estimated that every year several million Americans need biopsy procedures every year with some 20% of procedures failing to render an accurate diagnosis with patients having to go through costly, painful repeat biopsy procedures. The firm's system improves rapid on-site evaluation (ROSE) of biopsies teducing the need for repeat procedures and making for more ffectie use of operating room capacity. A mobile application for image viewing and annotation allows for fast and centralized remote pathology evaluation on all common devices
