Public Profile

Esplin Biotechnology LLC was founded to develop and commercialize research conducted at Brigham Young University which offers a method of controling and preventing the most significant bacterial disease that infects Honey Bees, American Foulbrood disease (AFB). The research found specific phages, a categoryof viruses that infect bacteria, that will target the AFB disease and will only impact these bacteria, while being safe for the bees and for human usage. Esplin Biotechnology licensed the related patents to this technology and has begun developing a product called BroodSafe, a solution for all bekeepers, from hobbyists to commercial operations. It is an alternative to antibiotics, which have a variety of negative impacts which affect the bees, honey, and humans.
