Public Profile

Solectrac’s powerful, quiet, low maintenance, zero emission electric tractors are the first-to-market alternative to diesel tractors to produce clean food, reduce fossil fuel dependence and mitigate climate change. Offering a clean, quiet, zero-emissions alternative to diesel tractors, Solectrac Electric Tractors has been designing and building solar powered vehicles for decades. The challenge and opportunity has been less the technology than the affordability. Rising diesel prices are making it difficult for subsistence farmers in less developed countries to afford the tractors that might support increase in their agricultural production. Addressing both the issue of rising costs and the pollution increased use of fosil fuel powered vehicles will cause, the firm's solar powered tractors offers a clean, cost-effective and sustainable alternative to both problems. The plan is initially to market the Solectrac (Solar Tractor) in areas of the US where numbers of small organic farms are increasing and a non-polluting tractor is highly valued. In August 2020, the firm indicated a form of Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) invest opportunity with which we - idi personnel - have not previously been aware. In June 2021, it was announced that Soletrac had been acquired by Ideanomics(NASDAQ:IDE) - a firm focused on the convergence of financial services and industries experiencing technological disruption.
