Spun out of the University of Minnesota and with the involvment of Department of Energy Catalysis Center for Energy Innovation (CCEI), Sironix Renewables is startup focused on developing environmentally friendly and safe chemicals from plants. A new line of plant-based surfactants is being develioped for use in detergents, agricultural products, and oil recovery. Sironix Renewables has developed a breakthrough surfactant ingredient - called Eosix® Surfactant - that is made from 100 percent plant-based resources. Product provides dramatically improved hard water performance compared with conventional ingredients. Through various industrial partnerships, the firm is currently developing its platform technology in the space of cleaning and personal care products. In the longer term, a shift to deployment of the technology in agricultural and coatings markets is anticipated.I Fall 2020, it was announced firm would begin to scale production at its Seattle facility of its Eosix® technology that delivers enhanced performance, reduces petroleum use and solves for regulatory and possible health concerns faced by traditional surfactant ingredients.
