In August 2011, Concentric Medical was acquired by Stryker Corporaton (NYSE:SYK) is building a franchise in neurovascular intervention by developing new device-based treatments for ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke. Concentric’s leading product, the proprietary MERCI™ System has the potential of revolutionizing ischemic stroke intervention by providing a simple and innovative mechanical method of removing thrombus to restore blood flow. Concentric Medical focuses on catheter-based treatment of ischemic stroke, hypervascularized tumors and hemorrhagic stroke, otherwise known as cerebral aneurysm. The company is currently developing several proprietary device systems: the Merci™ Clot Retriever, indicated for clot removal; Embolic Pearls™ for embolic therapy of hypervascularized tumors; and embolic coil systems for the treatment of cerebral aneurysms. Concentric Medical, Inc. offers practical, breakthrough devices for what we believe is the greatest opportunity in the field of Interventional Neuroradiology. Concentric is working to develop products which are designed to enable physicians to simply and effectively treat ischemic stroke by removing thrombus from the cerebral vasculature.
