In September 2005, Agility was acquired by JDS Uniphase, a firm which has previously acquired several other SBIR involved firms. Agility Communications develops widely tunable components for metro, switching, and long-haul markets, providing low total cost of ownership and reduction of costs and complexity of supporting agile networks. The company's patented optical module designs include state-of-the-art photonic IC (PIC) components including widely-tunable lasers, transceivers, and wavelength converters that enable customers to provision, scale, and manage bandwidth over many wavelengths at lower cost. Agility has created the first high-power, widely tunable laser, a key disruptive technology that enables a third generation of 'dynamic DWDM' fiber optic networks. Agility's optoelectronic products include widely-tunable lasers, transceivers, and wavelength converters that enable customers to provision, scale and manage bandwidth over many wavelengths at lower capital and operating cost. Agility is headquartered in Santa Barbara, California and has manufacturing facilities in Allentown, Pennsylvania
