Positron Systems provides nondestructive testing services and component inspection at the atomic lattice structure level through the use of induced positron annihilation techniques. Primary applications have been in turbine engine components (aerospace/powergen). Photon Induced Positron Annihilation (PIPA) and Distributed Source Positron Annihilation (DSPA) technologies detect fatigue, embrittlement, and other forms of structural damage in materials at the atomic level, before cracks appear. PIPA and DSPA can also accurately determine the remaining life of various materials and are more precise than any other existing flaw detection technology on the market. These patented technologies were invented by scientists at the U.S. Department of Energy's Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory (INEEL) and licensed to Positron Systems for commercial use. Positron Systems offers NDT services and products using these advanced technologies and is continually developing new technical capabilities
