We will develop a novel high current (1-10kA) high voltage (10kVDC) electrical relay for use in modern Navy ship designs heavily reliant on DC electrical distribution. The switch utilizes an environmentally-friendly liquid metal as the primary switching element. This relay exhibits very low on-resistance, fast switching, no bounce, and significantly increased MTBF as compared with comparable electro-mechanical contactors.
