This project will develop several bore insulator surface concepts to overcome the limitations found in current insulator designs. Prototype insulators will be built and validated through railgun testing in Phase I.

Benefit:
Insulator life is one of the major roadblocks to weaponization of railguns for a variety of military applications. The benefits of this SBIR are that we will develop at least one insulator design that can address these life limitations, making it possible to move to an advance development program. Potential commercial applications exist in conventional gun bore liners.
