In March 2009, DisplayTech Inc was acquired by Micron Technology, Inc. crystal-on-silicon (FLCoS) microdisplays used as electronic viewfinders to frame, focus, and preview images in camcorders and digital cameras. Displaytech's LightView microdisplays combine the display device with controller and video interface subcomponents for easier integration into OEM products. DisplayTech manufacture miniature ferroelectric liquid crystal displays, electro-optic devices and materials. Products are used to modulate or shutter light for color display and optical computing applications. Some of these products include laser choppers, video shutters and spatial light modulators. Products are useful in optical prototypes, cameras, printers and film recorders. Displaytech, Inc. makes and sells microdisplays with superior image quality for electronic viewfinders in consumer digital still cameras, camcorders, and mobile communication devices. The low power and compact form factor of Displaytechs LightView microdisplay product line enable innovative end-product design. The patented Ferroelectric Liquid Crystal (FLC) technology at the heart of the Companys microdisplays is also used in a line of ultra-fast photonics switching products for emerging optical applications. A fabless manufacturing model positions Displaytech to keep pace with the high-volume consumer electronics market. In 2004, Displaytech filed for an IPO but subsequently withdrew its offe
