HUNTSVILLE, Alabama -- Q-Track in Huntsville has been awarded a $1.7 million contract from Lockheed Martin Corporation Mission Systems and Training, the company announced this month.

The order will allow Q-Track, a graduate of BizTech in Huntsville, to provide a Near-Field Electromagnetic Ranging Real-Time Location System to be deployed at one of Lockheed's Urban Operations Training Systems sites.

"This contract represents one of the largest individual system orders in Q-Track's history, and highlights the unique capabilities of Q-Track's system," said Steve Werner, chief executive officer of Q-Track Corporation.

A news release announcing the contract said the technology will "track soldiers to an accuracy of three feet or better at least 95 percent of the time throughout 31 buildings at the 500,000-square-foot site."

Q-Track, which has 20 full-time employees, was incorporated in 2002. In 2009, the company was featured as an example of a Huntsville startup in CNN Money's coverage that ranked Huntsville as the No. 1 midsized place to open a small business.
