Oregon State University and mAbDx agree to develop diagnostic tools for managing vibriosis in marine shellfish hatcheries

mAbDx and Oregon State University have agreed to jointly develop rapid tests and reagents for diagnosis of vibriosis in marine shellfish hatcheries. Vibrio tubiashii (Vt) is a bacterial shellfish pathogen that causes serious disruptions in hatchery production and is currently difficult to detect and manage. The novel diagnostic test is a simple "dipstick" immunoassay that will allow hatchery operators to perform regular on-site monitoring for Vt contamination and enact interventions early, when they are most effective. The test will be a major improvement over current Vt detection protocols that take several days and require extensive, expensive off-site laboratory analysis. Additional information can be found at:
