CoachMePlus has closed on a $600,000 round of venture capital financing -- a follow-on preferred financing round to the $1 million the company raised in October 2013.

The Z80 Labs-based company was founded in 2012 and has a growing roster of clients in the professional sports world, including the Buffalo Sabres and Bills, who utilize the company's high-tech performance data platform. In the past few months, it has signed up both the Los Angeles Kings and Arizona Coyotes.

CoachMePlus is also a semifinalist in the 43North business comeptition. Finalist announcements are expected this week or early next, and each of those 11 companies will win a share of $5 million in prizes.

The announcement marks the 12th publicly identified equity investment round in Buffalo this year, compared to six all of last year. This year's rounds include GripeO ($275,000), ClearView Social ($423,000), ACV Auctions ($1 million), MimiVax ($1.55 million), Kinex Pharmaceuticals ($75 million), Vader Systems ($100,000), OnCore (an approximate total of $2.1 million), DaStrong ($300,000), Energy Intelligence (a $100,000 convertible note) and POP Biotechnologies (a $100,000 convertible note).
