Woburn, MA -- September 15, 2014 -- Aptima, a leader in simulation, performance measurement, and training products designed for the quantified warrior, has been selected by Military Training Technology Magazine's (MT2) for its annual list of "Top Simulation and Training Companies."

Aptima's mission is to engineer tools and systems that increase human capabilities and thereby enhance performance in defense, homeland security, healthcare, aviation and cyber security. The company was recognized in part for its launch of the ASA™, the A▪Measure® Server Application for storage, assessment, and retrieval of human performance measurement data.

Part of its line of performance measurement software and tools, the ASA is Aptima's framework for aggregating performance measurement data from disparate systems. The ASA uses the Human Performance Markup Language (HPML) to define performance measures, as well as to describe human performance from a variety of sources, including Aptima's PM Engine™ and SPOTLITE™. Custom data schemas and API extensions can also be added through ASA plugin modules.

Web service-based storage and retrieval of data. The ASA defines a set of Web Services which are used to import and export data. Data can be sent through the Import services from performance assessment tools such as the PM Engine or SPOTLITE. Data can be retrieved from the Export services for use by real-time data consumers or visualizations.
Authentication and role-based access control. All web services that access data from the ASA database require authentication. Administrators are able to create ASA user accounts and manage their roles. The ASA uses role-based access controls for protecting certain actions and data within the ASA.
Extensible API and Data Store. The ASA's modular design allows for the addition of new web services, execution of custom code during specific ASA events, and addition of new tables to the ASA database by creating custom modules which can be dropped into the ASA server. This allows you to create additional, specific data models and functionality to the ASA without creating a custom build.

This is the ninth consecutive year that the company has been selected by MT2 for this prestigious list. Awardees are selected based on various criteria, which includes total military sales, end-user feedback, innovation, and need for the solution.
