Accordion Health Inc., a health care analytics company, has received $60,000 through the National Science Foundation.
The capital is expected to help the Austin startup with its first commercial contract. The funding, in the form of a matching grant, doubles the value of services Accordion can provide customers, according to a company announcement.
Accordion Health, founded in July, develops software designed to generate predictive data analytics used in health care decisions. The company employs 11 workers.
President and co-founder Sriram Vishwanath said data based on an employer's health care plan is the first step in helping consumers and employers gain access to quality health care at a low cost.
Vishwanath is also a computer networking professor at the University of Texas, according to his online profile.
Accordion Health plans to apply for a National Science Foundation matching grant to fund research into the development of its technology, the release indicates.
