Founded with the objective of radically improving spacecraft affordability and reliability, transforming and enabling next generation space mission operations worldwide, Denver CO based York Space Systems specializes in both end-to-end customer solutions and the manufacture of spacecraft platforms. Though only minimally SBIR involved - in receipt of one of the rather different Air Force projects of a while back - a small money/quick decision - the firm appears to live up to its promise. In early October 2022 it was announced that the firm had been awarded a $200 million contract to build and operate 12 satellites with experimental military communications payloads. Shortly after, it was also announced that AEI had agreed to acquire a majority stake funds and that accounts managed by BlackRock Private Equity Partners had also agreed to invest alongside AE Industrial in the transaction
