VisualMetrics Corporation (VMC) is a privately held software development company specializing in structured, semi-structured and unstructured database systems and data mining. Its current emphases are in Internet content acquisition and knowledge management systems, and database systems supporting efficient storage, retrieval and extensibility for genetic sequences and bioinformatics. VMC is a major shareholder in BrightPlanet Corporation, for which it developed all of the core, underlying technology. VMC was also developer of the Mata Hari® desktop metasearch tool, one of the first and most highly awarded early Internet tools. In the firls of bioinformatics, VMC has won major, multi-year contracts from NIH's National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) and the National Science Foundation. Iowa State University is VisualMetrics' collaborator on these bioinformatics initiatives. VMC has a wholly-owned subsidiary, Promula Development Corporation, Columbus, OH, that specializes in automatic software language translation of legacy systems and dynamic modeling systems supporting large databases.
