Tactile Analogics has developed wixel technology, which is a new kind of tactile device that aids visually impaired people in understanding information such as maps, shapes, graphs and potentially any digital and analogical data that can be displayed/sensed. Employed initially for use by the blind, the firm offers an innovative way to communicate any displayable information by using tactile, but potentially for other industries. The effort is to leverage information input by Users so as not to be dependent on visual indicators but isead to engage other senses -- developing innovative interfaces that will take the acquisition of information via tactile sense.
