Public Profile

SiOnyx is commercializing a patented semiconductor process designed dramatically to enhance the sensitivity of silicon based photonics. Intended to improve the performance of light sensing devices for consumer, commercial, and defense related applications, the company also provides black silicon, a drop-in solution for the solar cell lines that is critical in supporting roadmap architectures requiring a planar back surface for dielectric passivation. SiOnyx’s platform represents a significant breakthrough in the development of smaller, cheaper, high-performing photonic devices in applications ranging from simple light detection to advanced digital imaging, photovoltaics and more. In 2015, that part of Sionyx held by one of its earlier invesors became part of a divestiture of assets by tha investor and made part of Aurora. At same location, SIOnyx continues to sell its products - most recently (January 2019) receiving a $20N contract from thr Army to work on advanced night vision cameras.
