Focused on improving patient outcomes and quality of care through cost-efficient innovation, SafeBVM is a medical device startup working on the problem of inadvertent hyperventilation by healthcare providers during manual ventilation: advancing the science of emergency airway management. Technology will fit into existing treatment workflow and supply-chain while also addressing the need for safer ventilation during COVID-19. Improper manual ventilation due to delivery of unsafe pressures, volume, or frequency is not uncommon and can happen even to longtime experienced providers. With the problem have been studied extensively the need for the device is understood. With the objective being development of a device that can achieve performance and safety closer to a ventilator, studies have included characterizing usability, performance, efficacy, and biocompatibility.
