Saber Corporation is developing an antimicrobial bandage to reduce costs and help fight healthcare associated infections such as Surgical Site Infections (SSI). Saber's antimicrobial bandage prevents bacterial contamination using blue light to inactivate would pathogens and improve would healing. Blue light, in the wavelength range of 400-470m, causes bacterial inactivation due to the photo- excitation of intracellular porphyrins. Blue light antimicrobial therapy has been FDA approved and widely studied, and Saber Corporation has developed a solution that utilizes this technology in bandage form.
