R-Display and Lighting LLC develops Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) technology, including materials, device fabrication and manufacturing operations to deliver advanced flat panel display and lighting products. OLED Displays exhibit vibrant looking images with exciting potential applications that go beyond the current standard use of displays. This is based on the ability to deposit very thin light emitting films on a broad range of substrates including flexible substrates. Currently, OLED displays are used primarily for small display applications such as mobile phones. However, with more robust ways to scale OLED manufacturing operations, medium and large display applications for tablets, computer monitors and Large HD TV's are expected to significantly increase. Lighting applications for OLED displays have emerged based on the low power consumption of OLED devices compared to standard incandescent lighting. Although LED lighting is an established alternative for lower power lighting, OLED lighting offers additional unique advantages based on direct emission without the need for additional optical management. The ability to make flexible panels that can conform to different shapes and surfaces opens the door to vast architectural designs.
