OmegaChea Biorenewables LLC is developing a scalable microbial-engineering based technology to produce bio-based specialty chemicals such as lubricants, surfactants, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals. The driving force for OmegaChea is to provide cost-effective and high-performance chemicals using a sustainable bio-based technology and to reduce the use of non-renewable petroleum based raw materials by the current chemical industry. The company is a spin-off from the NSF-funded Engineering Research Center for Biorenewable Chemicals (CBiRC) at Iowa State University (ISU).
