Previously doing business as Magnetic Applications Inc, Magnetic Applications, Inc. is developing very high power density, (generally >5x,) alternators and controls for direct R&R (Remove & Replace) of conventional belt driven vehicle alternators. Diverse market usage include: Military, Mass transit bus, Safety, (fire, ambulance, first responder, Service trucks, Farm-ranch, Motor homes, boating, RTV side-by-sides (larger than ATVs) and any market needing mobile electric power well beyond that of conventional Lundel type vehicle alternators. System output includes 400+ amps at vehicle idle on 12volt service trucks; 600 amps at vehicle idle on 24 volt mass transit buses; 1000 amps at high idle on 24 volt military and 250 amp welding and plasma cutting + 12kw AC on utility Side-by-Side vehicles. Projects currently under development include 50kw 3 phase 115/230VAC under hood, vehicle engine mounted alternator weighing 65 pounds replacing the conventional 200 amp (6kw) 78 pound alternator on a TARDEC loaned HMMWV; TARDEC funded project to develop synchronization to tie several vehicles, military, commercial service trucks, fire and safety, etc. together, each with an appropriate MagApp HPD alternator, like #1 above, to form a local power grid in an emergency or field situation.
